About Us
Who are we?
We are Ian and Lena, an international couple of travelers and adventure seekers. We have called China and the Netherlands home, but in 2024 we went all out on an 11-month world tour. Twenty countries later, here we are back to our “normal life.” Now we have moved back to China, because why not? If you love traveling and you are wondering how it is possible to travel for a whole year, you’ve found the right place!
Why Enjoy the Detour?
We met each other in China. Lena received a scholarship at Jilin Normal University in the northern part of China, and Ian came to the same “village” to teach English. Neither of us was meant to be there – Lena was supposed to go to a different city, and Ian as well. But we took a detour in our lives and found each other. Since then we have traveled a lot, and each time we had to detour, we’ve learned to enjoy it!
